Coventry University Students Union
Black History Month takes place throughout October each year in the UK. It marks a month of awareness and celebration of Black history, culture, and community. At Coventry University Students’ Union (CUSU) they celebrated Black History at Fargos Village. The theme this year ' Changing the narrative' was coupled with a line up of events to recognise and celebrate Black History, Culture while looking forward to the future of the Black Community.
The Shooting Star Award
This award is aimed to reward a student who through their work/studies have promoted equality, diversity and inclusivity initiatives or projects within the University or local community
Community Champion Award
This award recognizes an organisation/firm within the community who has been championing liberation, equality and diversity thus creating lasting positive social impact.
Staff Awards
This award will be given to a member of staff who has leveraged their position for the best through actions and are using their platform to further the interests of students.
Community Individual Awards
This award recognizes an individual within the community who through hard work and commitment has made a vivid impact on the local community in advancing equality and diversity.
Sabb Awards
This award will be given to a group, organisation or individual who has used their platform to better Black History Month as a social event- whether that effort has been over the past twelve months, or consistently over several years.
